Exciting Projects Coming Up For Garden Volunteers
Head Gardener, Penny Austin, and our wonderful volunteers have been busy - not only in the garden, but also at the Rockaway Arts Weekend a few weeks ago with a garden stall of info. Penny also conducted tours of the garden to over 50 people, spreading the word about ways to encourage biodiversity and support sustainability.
With improvements to the different areas and new fencing in the garden, the local deer and badgers have successfully been kept away from the burgeoning produce, which means more delicious home-grown ingredients for the Vegan Café! There's also some exciting projects coming up for the garden volunteers that Penny can't wait to embark upon. More info to follow soon...
After the success of Penny's recent gardening courses in Biodiversity and Sustainable Gardening in a Changing Climate, we're excited that she's planning more sessions for November. So, keep an eye on Our Workshops & Courses webpage. There's also a few places left on Penny's Session 3 of Sustainable Gardening in a Changing Climate course, which takes place this Sunday on 6th October. If you'd like to take part, head over to the page to book by clicking below.
We always love to see visitors in the garden. Agreed that the weather hasn't exactly been conducive to exploring the space lately, but it's still worth a visit with the right clothing and footwear! Why not wander by between the downpours and explore the many different paths and levels, as well as take in the superb views?
If you'd like to actually get involved and help our Community Forest Garden continue to grow, please get in touch by clicking on the garden webpage and scrolling down to the volunteering section. There's a delicious vegan lunch on offer as a thank you for your time. It's also a great opportunity to work with some caring and fun people, while reaping the physical and mental health benefits.
As an active volunteer, you'll also be able to take part in Penny's gardening workshops and courses for FREE.
We look forward to you joining us in the garden soon!
