More Amazing Progress in the Rockaway Garden
Our lovely volunteers were busy in the Community Forest Garden in June with more planting, weeding and tending, as well as installing a potential new home for baby owls (fingers crossed!) Grape vines, tomatoes, squash, pumpkins, beetroot and peas are just some of the latest additions that will provide delicious ingredients for the Vegan Café.
Meanwhile, Bath Ramblers Volunteer Team have also finished installing timber steps, stone and gridmats to improve the public footpath on the slope that runs alongside the garden.
The garden is looking so beautiful at the moment thanks to such a lot of hard work. Flash has also built a fantastic new compost bin structure, which is getting plenty of use!
Photos can give you an idea of how gorgeous the garden is, but it's best experienced in person. So, why not swing by and take a walk around? We love seeing visitors taking in the superb views and exploring the pathways.
We also have a new suite of exciting gardening courses on offer, led by the wonderful Penny Austin:
Biodiversity in the Garden - Saturday 27th July & Saturday 10th August
Sustainable Gardening in a Changing Climate - Saturday 7th, 14th & 21st September
Designed for adults of all ages and abilities, both courses are a mix of practical activities and observation, based in the Rockaway classroom and Community Forest Garden.
Penny currently lectures for the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) delivering professional qualification courses to budding horticulturalists, and has now recently also taken on the beautiful gardens at Rockaway Park. Her first session is an introduction to biodiversity, which can be undertaken as a stand-alone course. If you'd like to delve deeper, Session 2 is available on Saturday 10th August.
For all the details about both courses, please visit our Workshops & Course page below:
We hope you can join us!
